The Business Development Advisor for Healthcare within Major Partnerships (the “BD Advisor”) will be responsible for growing ENGIE’s Energy-as-a-Service (“EaaS”) partnerships with major hospitals and medical centers. The BD Advisor will lead the development activities for targeting clients, building organizational partnerships and strategic alliances with channel partners, and working with client executives while leading the whole ENGIE project team from project conceptualization through to contract or financial closing.

The Business Development Advisor is key to the delivery of ENGIE’s strategy, embodying the purpose: “to accelerate the transition towards a carbon-neutral economy, through reduced energy consumption and more environmentally-friendly solutions”.

This position reports directly to the Director of Business Development for C&I, Data Centers & Hospitals – Major Partnerships and will be located in Houston, TX. Other ENGIE locations (preferably in the North-East) will be considered.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and take ownership of creating opportunities within the healthcare industry, with a strong focus on major hospitals and large medical centers
  • Originate, develop, maintain, and expand relationships with all levels in an account ranging from Facilities Managers to Chief Business Officers, Financial Director, and other senior executives identified as participating/contributing to the decision-making process
  • Maintain professionalism, diplomacy, sensitivity, and tact to portray the company in a positive manner
  • Lead and work as part of a cross-functional project development team that includes technical support, finance, operations, legal, regulatory, marketing and communications to secure new business and ensure delighted customers
  • Propose comprehensive Energy-as-a-Service solutions to clients to accelerate their transition towards a carbon-neutral economy, through reduced energy consumption and more environmentally-friendly technologies
  • Originate and qualify leads to build/renovate/expand, finance, operate and maintain the onsite energy infrastructure of our healthcare clients, creating new long-term major partnerships
  • Develop and maintain, together with channel partners, a strong sales pipeline
  • Lead customer meetings, contract negotiations, and present at internal and external senior level meetings
  • Identify and ensure engagement with multiple stakeholders within the customer organization and surrounding community throughout the development process, to determine, define and develop compelling business impact strategies
  • Attend and make an impact in critical networking and trade show events to obtain leads, present a positive public image of ENGIE, and expand knowledge of critical issues facing our customer base
  • Establish and practice standardized simplified financial templates with the support from Finance, to get preliminary high-level pricing
  • Follow the ENGIE Business Development process, providing the corresponding high-quality executive notes on time, respecting the Delegation of Authority and ensuring the right governance is in place
  • Mentor, partner, and train new Business Development Managers

Qualifications

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field
  • 10+ years of work experience in business development in a related field in energy services or utilities infrastructure, with at least 3 years in the healthcare sector
  • Experience in campus energy systems design, development, and construction is desirable
  • An MBA or related post-graduate degree is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presenting effectively and speaking publicly to senior executives
  • Strong negotiation skills and effective interaction with executive level decision makers
  • Demonstrated financial and business acumen
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to summarize projects in well structured clear notes for management approval
  • Ability to travel to domestic site locations and customer meetings as needed
  • Consistently identify challenges and present resolutions, in support of long-term partnership goals
  • Interest in sustainability strategies, energy efficiency, and renewable energy and passion to serve others and make a difference
