What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience”

  • Install, program, test, repairs, and service a variety of systems and equipment which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation with minimal guidance as needed.
  • Work closely with customers and internal colleagues in providing technical installation support and training. May assist or train less experienced Electrical Installers. Refers more complex issues to more experienced colleagues.
  • Interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment, utilizing knowledge of electronics and using standard test instruments and hand tools.
  • Provide basic installation assistance as directed by project lead.
  • Act as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customer’s first choice for service.
  • Take ownership of onsite project including safety, quality and performance. Observe and practice Convergint Quality Standards.
  • Make suggestions for installation methods to improve profitability and quality.
  • Learn and perform tasks of an Electrical Installer II in order to progress through the trade program.
  • Provide feedback to the Job-Lead regarding problems and anticipate time associated with an assigned task. Act as primary liaison to Project Lead.


What You'll Need

  • Experience installing, wiring access, and troubleshooting Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Solid Construction Skills and understanding of system plans.
  • Solid understanding of blueprints, design drawings including wiring and labeling methods, system wiring, wiring methods, cut sheets, wiring schematics, and cable support installation (J-Hook, Raceway, Conduit, Cable Support).
  • Very familiar with basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures unassisted, may require assistance with more complex specifications.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
  • Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and ability to read blueprints and drawings; solid math skills (for some positions, this may include calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc.)
  • Solid verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must have valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • The Fire Alarm Installer II will be responsible for providing basic hand tools as required to perform the daily tasks of the position.

Requirements

Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Relevant trade designation (e.g. Electrician) preferred.

Minimum experience: 2-5 years in Fire Alarm Life Safety Industry. Previous construction experience including some level of electrical, or a low voltage background required. Must have valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred experience (but nor required):

  • Experience in the following industries: Fire alarm & Life Safety.
  • Experience with one or more: Edwards EST, Potter, Notifier, Fire Lite, Silent Knight, Gamewell FCI, and /or Simplex/ JCI.
  • Certifications & Licenses: Texas Fire Alarm License (FAL), NICET Level 2 preferred.

Certifications & Licenses: Product-specific certifications helpful; industry-specific certifications desired; must have or be able to obtain applicable state and/or local required industry licenses as required by state law. Must have valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
