Position Specific Description
Gexa Energy is searching for a Portfolio Manager to join its Supply and Load Forecasting team. The Portfolio Manager is responsible for modeling load flex under different weather scenarios, evaluating risk exposure of Gexa’s load portfolio under extreme weather conditions and developing and recommending hedge strategies to mitigate such exposure. To be successful in this role, deep understanding of power and fuel markets as well as strong analytical and modeling skills are required. Excellent MS Excel and SQL skills will be critical to success.
Experience in Python and/or R is strongly preferred. Candidates will need the ability to develop presentations to present to internal stakeholders, including executive level management, and to interact with multiple business units.
Responsibilities:
- Model Gexa’s load under different weather scenarios
- Evaluate Gexa’s supply risk exposure stressed under different market and weather conditions, including energy, basis, ancillary services
- Develop and evaluate performance of different hedge strategies
- Monitor wholesale market trends, rule changes and evaluate their impact on Gexa’s portfolio
- Develop and maintain advanced models to asses retail load risk and how to effectively incorporate renewable generation contracts
- Track and report intra-month performance and analyze variances
- Develop product and deal structures and optimization strategies for the C&I Sales and Solutions team and the Residential team
- Present to senior management, seeking approval for proposed hedging strategies
