Position Summary:

The Content Marketing Specialists will be a hybrid role responsible for social media and trade show outreach. The position will interact with already established social media followers to promote SEG's products and services and create a strategy to build new audiences. As part of the trade show outreach duties, this position will prepare and manage SEG's presence at other association events.

Essential Functions:

  • Build and execute social media strategy through research, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification
  • Write, develop, and strategize online content production and schedule
  • Assist with crisis management, bad reviews, and negative news communications as needed
  • Generate, edit, publish, and share content daily (original text, images, video, and HTML)
  • Build meaningful connections and encourage community members through dialog and messaging
  • Maintain Society social media pages and profiles
  • Moderate user-generated content and messages appropriately, based on Society and community policies
  • Create and implement social media marketing plan and editorial calendar
  • Track and analyze analytics reports to gain insight on traffic, demographics, and effectiveness; utilize this information to positively affect future outcomes
  • Collaborate with other departments to manage Society reputation, coordinate promotions, and increase reach
  • Manage the SEG booth at association trade shows including booth design/layout, furniture orders, graphics, marketing materials, messaging, and sponsorships
  • Create a social media strategy to promote SEG's presence at other events
  • Create a trade show marketing plan that includes new opportunities to promote SEG
  • Examines opportunities for cross-promotion for Society departments as well as partnering organizations

Experience Required

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in digital marketing and social media
  • Strong familiarity with the business applications of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Knowledge of project management and web design best practices
  • Understanding of social media metrics; able to interpret the results and take action to increase the effectiveness of social media campaigns

Education, Certifications and Specialized Training

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, or related field


Job-Specific Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability in planning, negotiating, organizing, and marketing.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and data analysis skills
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud preferred but not required
  • Trade show marketing or planning experience preferred but not required
  • Strong organizational skills and analytical/quantitative abilities; multi-tasking and prioritization abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated effective follow-through skills.
  • Basic skills and knowledge required to use MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks and execute projects independently while meeting simultaneous deadlines of a variety of projects.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Must be able to perform work indoors in climate-controlled private work area with minimal noise, performing primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and routine lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and computer. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular and reliable attendance.

When attendance to Society-sponsored conference(s) are required, must be capable of moving around and working on exhibit floors for extended time periods.
