The Sr. Internal Communications Specialist position is central to engaging our teams and enriching our culture through strategic, creative, inclusive, and high-impact communications.
In partnership with the Senior Manager, Internal Communications, the Sr. Internal Communications Specialist supports tactical and strategic communications so Rubys feel in the know, connected, and engaged with company performance, initiatives, announcements, and our people-powered culture. This position interfaces with and collaborates with all departments across the organization.
This position will report to the Sr. Manager, Internal Communications and can be located from one of our offices in the Portland, OR or Kansas City, MO metro area, or fully remote (state-dependent).

What You'll Be Accountable For

  • Execute internal campaigns and communications including goals, strategy, content creation, delivery, and analysis, in partnership with Senior Manager, Internal Communications.
  • Develops and edits engaging, on-brand content that is well written and grammatically concise for various communication channels including the intranet, organization-wide announcements, videos, and employee events.
  • Coordinate and create content for Ruby's internal newsletter and blog.
  • Manage internal communications editorial calendar.
  • Drive employee engagement and connection through rich content and storytelling, including company performance; projects and initiatives; cultural programs and campaigns; vision/mission/values; special interest stories; events; recognition; perks & benefits, etc.
  • Evaluate existing channels and measure and analyze performance and engagement of internal communications and campaigns. Provide recommendations for enhancing internal communications strategy to improve information delivery to and engagement with employees throughout the organization.
  • Support Ruby's equity, diversity, and inclusion initiative through aligned and inclusive communication and development of content for specific EDI programs.
  • Counsel and advise internal colleagues and project teams on communication strategies and tools to accomplish specific objectives.
  • Demonstrate and apply a solid understanding of the Ruby brand guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain archiving system for Ruby stories, history, awards, and traditions.
  • Support internal presentation development, including but not limited to content and light graphics for events and meetings.
  • Contribute to the development of creative content ideas for internal and external communication, including public relations agency and social media team.
  • Support content development to strengthen Ruby's employer brand.
  • Support execution of employee feedback programs, including internal and external surveys, office hours, Ask Me Anything, and Glassdoor.
  • Stays current on internal communication trends and tools to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Your Background

  • 3-4 years of experience in a corporate communications role.
  • Experience writing in a business environment. A degree in the areas of Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, or a related field is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including outstanding attention to detail for proofreading, copy editing, and content development.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment while working independently with little supervision and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in a variety of software applications including O365 (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint) and Adobe Creative Suite.

Work Environment
Work can take place either in an open office setting or remote. This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work a flexible and regular full-time schedule. This position requires the ability to sit/stand and work at a computer for extended periods of time, and communicate effectively with a diverse audience in person, by phone and by computer.

We will be entering a phased reopening beginning in Spring and intend to require proof of vaccination for employees who work in an office site. For those that desire to work for Ruby but are not able to provide proof of vaccination, working remotely continues to be an option.
