Job Description:

The Marketing and Communications Manager for the Caterpillar Oil & Gas and Marine Division (COGMD) will lead a team of 8-10 marketing professionals responsible for the strategic creation and deployment of marketing activities for the Oil & Gas and Marine industries. This individual will oversee the development of strategies and implementation plans to execute comprehensive marketing campaigns to promote Caterpillar’s Oil and Gas brand as a service and solutions provider . Goals will include maintaining COGMD brand integrity and strategically positioning Caterpillar as an industry leading solutions provider and trusted partner. The Marketing and Communications Manager will also oversee the management of the COGMD web and social presence, current product campaigns, new product and technology introductions, internal marketing services, promotion of associated brands and execution of trade shows and customer events.

The incumbent key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the creation of marketing strategy and execution plan on services and products to drive Caterpillar’s brand forward on ESG and Energy Transition

  • Initiate research, development, and implementation of creative marketing programs, including awareness campaigns, lead generation, digital marketing, conventions, workshops, advertisements, sales tools and other initiatives.

  • Develop and promote branding initiatives consistent with division business goals and in alignment with our customers’ objectives.

  • Ensure all services, products and other offerings conform to brand identity; conduct ongoing brand management.

  • Work with creative staff and other department heads to produce marketing collateral that drives incremental business.

  • Develop and control marketing plans within budget requirements.

  • Collaborate with all departments to identify internal and external customer needs.

  • Communicate and negotiate with external vendors and promotional partners as needed for joint marketing activities.

  • Develop, manage and execute an annual strategic marketing and communications plan for COGMD to span across all communication media (online and offline) that reaches the appropriate target audiences, based upon specific performance goals.

  • Continuously measure and optimize strategies; implement improvements as needed.

  • Analyze potential new platforms/channels/media to enhance the marketing/communications reach for COGMD.

  • Provide strategic leadership to the marketing communications group.

  • Deliver annual plan for large shows and events.

  • Support the development and promotion of digital communication strategies for the division including marketing automation, social media, podcast and webinars.

  • Manage and develop 8-10 marketing professionals.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Engineering or Business from an accredited university or at least 10 years experience in a Marketing role.

  • 5 - 10 years of overall experience in Marketing

  • Previous Leadership experience

  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to present to all levels of leadership

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Good understanding of market forces, customer behavior and marketing tools.

  • Strong communication skills for upwards, downward and market communications.

  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience

Top Candidates will also have:

  • MBA

  • Previous Caterpillar and/or Cat Dealer Experience

  • Experience within the Oil & Gas and/or Marine Industries

This position may require 25% travel
