Newrest IAH has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Production Manager. This individual is responsible for overseeing about 30 team members and will have full operational, fiscal, and human resource responsibility for the entire Production department, which consists of the cold and hot kitchen and tray set-up. This individual sets the tone for the culture of the department and ensures that team members accomplish the work and treats them equitably and respectfully. This individual provides the vision and motivation for the department to improve recruitment and retention efforts. This individual consistently evaluates ways to improve the operational flow and maintains the quality and safety standards defined by Newrest.


Supervisory and Management

This position oversees the Production department, which includes the hot and cold kitchen and tray set-up. This individual manages and supervises the work of all employees within the department, provides vision and clear expectation to all team members, handles succession planning for all employees as well as holding team members accountable.


Operational responsibilities are defined as follows: take ownership of the department; ensure that all food is cooked, stored, handled, and set up accurately in a timely manner with the highest quality; develop efficient processes; empower and motivate team members; alert management of concerns and make recommendations to such concerns; forecast needs to and take appropriate action to avoid disruption in production; monitor incoming/outgoing product; and provide hands-on operational mentality to fill in as needed to ensure continuous operation.

Safety and Quality

In the area of quality and safety this individual will ensure that all processes conform to the customer and Newrest specifications, always comply with good hygiene and manufacturing practices (e.g., hazard analysis and critical control points [HACCP], FIFO), carry out cleaning, washing, and sanitation of premises in accordance with cleaning plan, investigate and complete incidents/accidents documentation as well as enforcement of safety processes and legal requirements for all processes.

Human Resources

This position also holds the following HR-related responsibilities: interview and determine the individuals to join your department, approve time off requests and other leaves of absences, perform performance reviews for all department team members, approve all timecards and resolve timecard discrepancies, mentor and coach team members and provide corrective actions as required regular and timely attendance.


The ideal candidate needs to possess the following:

  • Previous management experience of 5+ years required.
  • BA/BS in Logistics & Supply Chain, business administration, business management or similar
  • Comprehensive understanding of HACCP, GMPs, FDA and other Compliance Regulations as it relates to Food Safety Standards.
  • Experience leading teams up to 200 employees in a production/ fast operational tempo environment.
  • Management of Process Improvement Projects. Root Cause analysis methodologies. Process flow mapping.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced continuous production environment, across multiple shifts and willing to work weekends, holidays and nights
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of quality measurements
  • Strategic, big picture thinking, process oriented


  • Knowledge of airline experience and catering operations is preferred
  • HAACP and ServSafe Certification
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification
  • Managing process improvement projects.
