Job Title: Senior Associate 1-2
Department/Business Line: Homelessness Solutions Team
Reports To: Homelessness Team Lead
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary of Position: This position is a key part of LeSar Development Consultants’ national homelessness work and will involve working collaboratively to support systems change work in homelessness systems of care through community technical assistance, solutions-oriented stakeholder engagement, and the development and implementation of cross-sector innovations such as flexible funding pools and shared housing. LDC is headquartered in San Diego, and has staff located across California and the nation. This position will work remotely for the foreseeable future.

Successful candidates for this role have expertise (5-10 years) in homelessness systems of care or other safety net systems that serve vulnerable and underserved populations. Ideally, the candidate will have experience working at the intersection of healthcare and housing. Being skilled at project management, data analysis, program evaluation, business writing, group facilitation, and creating and delivering engaging presentations is essential to succeed in this role. As LDC is working to improve the ways in which it centers equity within the firm and in its work for local jurisdictions, having experience leading with race or other equity-centered work is a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Design, implement, project manage, and continuously evaluate homelessness-related programs at the intersection of homelessness and healthcare.
2. Evaluate the needs of prospective and current clients in an effective manner.
3. Facilitate meetings and workshops.
4. Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to understand client needs and opportunities in the context of the political, social, economic, and technological environment.
5. Research and write reports incorporating findings and recommendations to clients.
6. Present findings and recommendations to clients and their stakeholders, engaging in active listening to understand and effectively respond to opportunities and challenges.
7. Develop and maintain systems for monitoring policy developments and federal, state, and local homelessness-related programming and trends.
8. Maintain ongoing communications with internal team members, clients, and external stakeholders as appropriate to fulfill contractual obligations within budget in a timely manner.
9. Cultivate and manage relationships with existing and new clients, representing LDC in a professional manner.
10. Assist team lead with developing revenue projections and team workload planning.
11. Supervise and mentor junior on the Homelessness Solutions Team.
12. Monitor, track, and coordinate assignments of staff assigned to ensure timely completion of projects.
13. Monitor schedules of performance to ensure compliance and timely completion of projects.
14. Attend regular all-staff and team meetings as required.

Required Qualifications
1. Knowledge of:

  • Current programs and processes relating to supportive housing and ending homelessness.
  • Federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing supportive housing and homeless programs and funding.
  • Excellent writing, data analysis, and public presentation skills.
  • Principles and practices of business communication and correct use of the English language including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • General technology and Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point applications.

2. Ability to:

  • Write clear, concise, comprehensive, and effective reports.
  • Explain policies to diverse public and private organizations and individuals.
  • Practice advocacy, public and government relations skills with respect to a wide variety of issues related supportive housing and homelessness.
  • Remain calm and effective while working under pressure to meet multiple deadlines and short time constraints.
  • Establish priorities and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Organize work, set priorities, and exercise sound judgment within areas of responsibility.
  • Handle sensitive information in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing.
  • Work cooperatively with staff from other teams and organizations.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff.

Education/Experience: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration. public administration, public policy, or other related fields preferred or 5-10 years of related and increasingly responsible experience.

1. Compensation: Senior Associate 1: $90,000-$97,500; Senior Associate 2: $97,500-$105,000
2. Participation in firm’s medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life insurance plans with firm contributions of up to $500 per month
3. Participation in the firm’s 401(k) plan, with firm contributions of 3% of your compensation per plan year (subject to vesting requirements)
4. Reimbursement of up to $100 per month for cell phone and/or home office Internet expenses and up to $25 per month for home office supplies
5. 11 paid holidays per year
6. 15 days of paid time off annually

Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
