$1,500/mo Caregiver/Housekeeper for down syndrome, dementia

$1,500/mo Caregiver/Housekeeper for down syndrome, dementia
Get paid $1,500/month as a live-in housekeeper/caregiver! Free Rent and Utilities! Perks: Free rent and utilities! Close to central Houston in 77022. On Burress St. between Airline and Fulton. You would have your own room and share a restroom with the son. You take home the whole pay since your pay is not income tax eligible. You can park your car in the driveway so it’s not in the street. Roommates: The other people in the house are a 26-year-old son with down syndrome (very happy and easy-going person) and a 64-year-old mother with mild dementia. Neither need physical assistance. Both can perform basic ADLs. Your responsibilities: Cook/prepare/provide 3 healthy meals every day. Mon-Fri, you would pack the son’s lunch for the day hab. Ensure the son showers and brushes his teeth every night. Ensure the son is ready by 8 a.m. for MetroLift to pick him up for day hab. Having the son do easy exercises for 30 minutes on Sat and Sun. Having the son practice reading for 30 minutes on Sat and Sun. Cleaning the kitchen and fridge and doing laundry for son (washer and dryer inside house) when needed. Vacuuming/mopping the floors, cleaning your restroom and mowing a very small lawn when needed. Take the son to his doctor/dentist/eye appointments (on MetroLift) when needed (maybe 3/4 visits per year). Email weekly checklists of services provided and email list of groceries needed every two weeks. Bilingual preferred since the mother speaks mostly Spanish but not required. Valid driver’s license, dependable vehicle and current car insurance preferred but not required since he takes MetroLift. Good opportunity for students or retirees. Or you can work a separate job from the house through your computer (work-from-home) since you can only be away from the son while he is at his day hab 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Mon-Fri The time you’ll be working as a caregiver is like having a Part-Time job because the time spent actually performing the daily responsibilities are not very time consuming but it is classified as Full-Time by the HCS program since its a live-in position. The daily responsibilities will take you the same amount of time that you spend cooking and cleaning for yourself. This is not a group home but a private home and you would be the only caregiver responsible for them so if there’s an evening or weekend when you want to be away from the son, you would be responsible for finding someone to be the secondary caregiver which has to be approved by the HCS program case manager. HCS is an assistance program from TX Health and Human Services Dept. which provides pay for the live-in caregiver so you would have to meet requirements for the program, send checklists to the case manager and get paid directly from the program. Eligibility REQUIREMENTS: The program requires social security card or legal work permit, unexpired state ID/state driver license/passport/permanent resident card, clear criminal background and must be able to pass drug test in order to be approved to be the primary caregiver under this program. Also, the mother does not feel comfortable with a person of the opposite gender living in her house. Application Process: Fill out the pre-screening applicant questionnaire. If selected to continue after the virtual interview, I will schedule you to meet the mom and son in person. If selected to continue, you will need to send documentation to the case manager in order to meet those requirements. If you pass everything, you will be able to move in and start work.
