Job Type
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in one of the following areas:
- Technology Education 6-12
- Trade and Industrial Education 6-12 (with work experience)
- Math/Physical Science/Engineering 6-12
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to integrate knowledge and concepts into classroom instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- High energy level
- Flexible and adapts easily to change
- Willingness to work with CTE advisory committees
- High interest in project based and problem based learning
- High interest in working in small learning communities and professional learning communities
- Serve on ARD committees as assigned
- Work cooperatively with special education and multilingual staff to modify curricula as needed for special population students.
- Strong desire to grow professionally through staff development
- Completes effective lesson plans with immediate and long-range goals using project-based and problem-based learning experiences
- Integrate appropriate technology into classroom instruction
- Uses time effectively
- Chooses appropriate materials and activities
- Coordinates and plans with team members
- Monitors and assesses student performance in the classroom
- Participates in ongoing professional development
- Participates in Districtwide CTE events and initiatives
- Develops and implements activities/projects that motivate and encourage student success in STEM
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt
PAY GRADE: Classroom Teacher Salary Scale
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Middle School Career Technical Education (CTE) teacher is responsible for developing a curriculum integrating science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The CTE teacher will teach students entry-level skills for specified areas of employment consistent with state regulations and District philosophy, policies and procedures.
All employees of SISD are expected to act with integrity, support organizational goals, communicate in a clear and respectful manner, championing the needs of our students and drive continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical.
