Your Role and Responsibilities

The IBM FlashSystem Card Design team is responsible for the development of IBM Storage Hardware platforms and Media. This includes storage architecture, design, schematics, physical design, review, vendor validation and bring-up. The team needs an engineer that can work independently in the lab to perform characterizations, signal integrity analysis and debug of hardware. This includes circuit analysis, interpretation of data sheets and making design recommendations. This engineer will also participate in design decisions on new product designs internal and external to IBM.

Building on the current state of the art of solid state storage, and design products that will be the foundation for hybrid cloud solutions. This job entails working on the latest solid state storage technology, Flash, advanced power delivery circuits, PCI Express, DDRx and other high speed protocols. This position involves at least 50% of the time in the lab using tools and performing analysis. In addition, you will be performing design reviews and simulation tasks etc.

The team is responsible for the design and development of infrastructure hardware, solid state storage media, host interfaces and storage infrastructure. The team is highly skilled in circuit design, layout and architecture. Each team member brings creativity and innovative problem solving to design, debug, and deliver cutting edge solutions.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Deep level of understanding of Digital and Analog Circuit Design.
- Solid understanding of the principles of signal integrity.
- Excellent Analytical Skills.
- Experience in the principles of layout and physical design.
- Experience in the use of Oscilloscopes and other debug tools.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Understanding of computer protocols such as PCIe and DDR.
- Experience in the use of Schematic Capture tools.
- Ability to understand the nuances of various computer architectures.
- Signal Integrity Simulation.
- Test and Validation of hardware.
