Position Summary
The Accounting Supervisor oversees AP/AR functions for the organization and serves as the subject matter expert providing specialized knowledge of the accounting, reporting and compliance obligations affecting publicly traded companies. The ideal candidate should exhibit exceptional customer service skills, a positive attitude, and a strong attention for detail. Additionally, the successful candidate is also a service-oriented person who enjoys high volume transactional responsibilities and takes pride in the accuracy and thoroughness of their work.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day accounts payable/receivable operations ensuring accurate and timely processing of billings and collections in a high growth, fast-paced organization
  • Ensure compliance with all corporate and country-specific policies and procedures
  • Drive process standardization, automation, and continuous process improvement to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Build highly effective and positive relationships with Plug Power vendors/suppliers; stay connected to payment issues and work to resolve issues to mutual benefit. While focusing on building high-value business partner relationships with cross-functional departments
  • Partners with external auditors and supports audit requests as a subject matter expert related to Plug Power’s financial reporting
  • Maintains current knowledge of US GAAP; make recommendations for process changes as dictated by these obligations
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment compliant with SOX
  • Leads the implementation of revised accounting standards within the organization as needed
  • Manages the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation and closing activities
Education and Experience

  • BS degree in accounting/finance or other relevant field
  • Seven (7) plus years of relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of degree requirement
  • At least three (3) years Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable experience with a minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience overseeing a team of direct reports
  • Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively
  • Must be driven and self-motivated
  • Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Exempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities. This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per week.
